  • DescriptionBrochure for a surfing event.
  • Process (Programs, Tools, Skills)The first thing I did when I figured out what my theme was (the surfing competition) was design a logo in Illustrator. I wanted the text of the logo to match the name of the event (wave break surf competition) so I designed the ‘Wave’ text and then broke up the letters so I could move them in a wave shape. The rest of the logo was fairly simple just arranging words in the way I wanted them but wasn’t too complicated since it is the title of an event and need to be read. Then I edited my front page photo to focus more on the surfer, otherwise the photo didn’t really draw the eye like I wanted it to. I painted over the photo with a color selector and without intending the result it created something I really liked. The rest of my brochure design was done in InDesign, with the exception of clipping the surfer photo in photoshop. I just found pictures of surfing competitions and placed them throughout my design to create the flow that I wanted it to. I added a few shapes to guide the eye from text to text.
